Located in Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, LilyPond Vintage is a treasure trove of unique, one-of-a-kind vintage finds. Since opening our doors in 2017, our shop has become a go-to destination for vintage painted furniture, home décor & DIY paints.
As a certified retailer for IOD, Country Chic Paint, FUSION and MMS Milk Paint, we love working with our visitors to help bring their DIY dreams to life by providing expert consultation and advice. This special touch has helped us grow a large and loyal fan base that we’re very grateful to have.
Founded by Shirley Whiteway-Matheson
Shirley Whiteway-Matheson founded LilyPond Vintage in 2017, following her lifelong passion for everything old, chippy and vintage. Passionate about interior design, vintage home decor, antiques and painting furniture, she has been refinishing furniture and decorating on a budget for 20+ years. What started as a hobby eventually grew into a small home-based business in 2015 before she set her sights on opening a full brick-and-mortar location.
Shirley comes from a large family of artisans — her papa was a cobbler, and her gram was a painter. When she was young, her dad taught her how to paint and make household repairs. She spent hours with him, learning from him. He could build anything, and she always admired how there was nothing he couldn’t do. He also instilled in her the importance of work ethic and the tenacity to follow through on what you start.
Shirley has always had a love and appreciation for vintage homes and antiques. One of her first homes was built in the 1860s and needed many repairs. Slowly but surely, she and her husband worked on restoring the home. Her early years of helping her dad put her useful skills to work. And so, her passion grew.
As a small business owner, Shirley is dedicated to each of her customers and clients. She believes in putting quality first and works to continuously improve her products and customer service.
